New Fuel Cell Power Technology: Motorola Introduce Into The SLVR L7

Canadian firm, Angstrom Power has developed a new mobile phone fuel cell that is set to revolutionise the time it takes to recharge our phones and the frequency we will need to charge them.

The new cells, which apparently last twice as long as standard batteries and take a mere 10 minutes to charge have been introduced into Motorola’s SLVR L7 handsets. Visitors to the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week were given a sneak peek at the cell.

The new Angstrom Power technology will give Motorola a helping hand in its environmental practice as these new hydrogen fuel cells are claimed to be less damaging to landfill sites and nearby water sources.

For the time being, it seems that Motorola will have sole use of the Angstrom Power cell as there aren’t any plans to commercialise it until 2010. However, as the cell uses hydrogen fuel to charge rather than electricity plugs, there are concerns that local supermarkets and stores will need to stock hydrogen refuelling products.

As hydrogen is a highly flammable diatomic gas, we recommend that refill stockists invest in buildings insurance.
